Call for Grant Applications: Raising Awareness of Human
Trafficking in Vanuatu
Background
Human trafficking is a serious human rights violation that affects communities across Vanuatu, the Pacific, and around the world. Victims — men, women, and children — can be subjected to forced labour, sexual exploitation, and other forms of abuse. Yet despite its scale, trafficking is often misunderstood or goes unrecognized by the wider public. Raising awareness and taking action requires all of us working together.
IOM is an intergovernmental organization within the United Nations system whose mandate includes supporting victims of trafficking and people at risk of trafficking and other forms of violence, exploitation and abuse, including migrants.
Together with government agencies, civil society organizations, and NGOs, IOM promotes awareness, tackles the root causes of trafficking, and supports the development of policies that protect people and help prevent human trafficking.
