Marine Mechanic

Job Description

The Marine Mechanic supports the Technical Manager in overseeing the technical operations and maintenance of the company’s fleet. The role involves assisting with vessel maintenance, troubleshooting, repair coordination, spare parts management, fuel monitoring, and ensuring compliance with the Planned Maintenance System (PMS). The position also provides technical support to vessel crews and contributes to improving fleet efficiency and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Operations Support

• Assist the Technical Director/Manager in the daily follow-up and coordination of fleet technical operations.

• Monitor vessel condition and support vessel crews in troubleshooting and maintenance activities.

• Provide technical assistance to vessel crews during maintenance and repair works.

Maintenance & Repairs

• Coordinate repairs, maintenance works, and dry docking activities.

• Ensure proper implementation and follow-up of the Planned Maintenance System (PMS).

• Verify that maintenance activities are completed and accurately recorded.

• Maintain technical maintenance records, reports, and operational documentation.

Spare Parts & Inventory Management

• Support procurement activities for spare parts, tools, and technical equipment.

• Monitor and manage spare parts inventory onboard vessels and ashore.

• Ensure adequate stock levels are maintained at all times.

Fuel & Refueling Operations

• Monitor fuel stock levels and fuel consumption records.

• Assist in coordinating refueling operations and related documentation.

Fleet Performance

• Support initiatives aimed at improving fleet efficiency, reliability, and performance.

• Assist management with technical reporting and operational improvement plans.

General Duties

• Perform any other duties reasonably assigned by management, whether or not specifically listed in this job description.

Working Conditions:

The Marine Mechanic may be required to travel on the company's vessels and work at sea for limited periods. The position may also demand availability beyond regular working hours in case of emergencies or critical repairs. It also requires initiative, flexibility, and a strong sense of responsibility. The employee may be assigned additional duties by management as necessary to support company operations

Reporting:

The Marine Mechanic reports directly to the technical manager and collaborates closely with other departments.

Selection Criteria

• Diploma or Certificate in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Marine Mechanics, or related technical field.

• Previous experience in marine mechanical maintenance, vessel operations, or fleet technical support preferred.

• Experience working with maintenance systems and vessel repair coordination is an advantage.

• Knowledge of marine engines, mechanical systems, and vessel maintenance procedures.

• Familiarity with Planned Maintenance Systems (PMS).

• Basic understanding of spare parts management and fuel monitoring.

• Ability to read and maintain technical reports and maintenance records.

• Strong sense of responsibility and initiative.

• Flexible and able to work under pressure.

• Good organizational and communication skills.

• Team-oriented with problem-solving abilities.

Requirements
