INVENTORY MANAGER

Job Description

1. POSITION PURPOSE

The Inventory Manager is responsible for the effective management, control and organisation of all inventory within Vila Distribution Hardware.

The primary objective of this position is to ensure that stock records accurately reflect physical stock, that all incoming and outgoing goods are properly controlled, and that stock discrepancies, shortages, damages and losses are identified and minimized.

The Inventory Manager will also play an important role in developing procedures and training staff to improve stock handling, inventory control and warehouse organisation.

6. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate should have:

• Proven experience in stock management, inventory control or warehouse management.

• Previous experience in hardware, building materials, retail or distribution is mandatory.

• Strong organisational and analytical skills.

• Good computer skills and experience with inventory-management software.

• Ability to analyse discrepancies and identify their causes.

• Good communication and reporting skills.

• Ability to supervise and train employees.

• Strong attention to detail.

• High level of integrity, reliability and accountability.

7. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

The Inventory Manager will work closely with:

• Hardware Manager / General Manager

• Purchasing and Procurement

• Accounts Department

• Sales Team

• Department Supervisors

• Warehouse and Receiving Staff

• Delivery and Logistics Staff

Effective communication between these departments is essential to maintaining accurate inventory records.
