Job Description

Reporting Line:

This position reports to the Airport Manager- Port Vila

Position Purpose:

The Supervisor Maintenance- Port Vila is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all maintenance activities to ensure a safe, efficient and continuous operation of airport infrastructure and facilities at the Port Vila International Airport. This job involves challenging tasks and a significant amount of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

- Supervise and coordinate Maintenance Officers in delivery of day to day maintenance activities across various airport properties

- Oversee a wide range of works inclusive of painting, carpentry, asphalt and concrete paving, crack sealing, building construction, furniture maintenance and vegetation control

- Prepare cost estimate for maintenance works and materials

- Implement preventative and corrective safety maintenance program for the airport assets

- Prepare stock inventory for materials, tools and supplies required for maintenance activities

- Ensure daily maintenance check reports and documentation is completed

- Communication and correspondence including emails, phone calls and written correspondence

- Monitor work quality, productivity and compliance with AVL policies and procedures

- Manage competing priorities and address operational challenges in a dynamic airport environment

- Perform other maintenance tasking as needed

Organisation Description

Airports Vanuatu Limited (AVL) is a State-Owned Enterprise responsible for the operation, management and development of Vanuatu's international airports located in Port Vila, Santo, and Tanna.

Selection Criteria

Essential:

-Certificate IV -Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent education and related work experience

- Proven leadership experience in supervising maintenance teams within facilities, construction or infrastructure

- 5-7 years as a maintenance supervisor

- Ability to prepare and maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and daily check documentation

- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and meet operational deadlines in a safety-critical environment

- Competent computer skills, including basic use of Microsoft Office applications.

- Willingness to work flexible hours, including after-hours or emergency call-outs as required

- Have a good command of English or French in both oral and written

- Good interpersonal skills (verbal and written)

- Ability to become a team player

Desirable:

- Diploma in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent education and related work experience

- Previous experience working in a similar environment

- Experience with budget and procurement processes

- Strong problem solving and decision making skills

- Leadership or supervisory training, with experience in mentoring or developing staff

Special Attributes:

- Must be medically and physically fit

- Must have a valid Police Clearance

- The ability to respond to any late nights or early morning hours' emergency at the airport premises

- Valid Driver's license
