JOB TITLE: ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT
LOCATION: Based at Shefa Head Quarter, Port Vila
CATEGORY: PGO 4.1 (1,195,500 VT)
EMPLOYMENT TYPE:
Position Profile: Assist the accounting department with clerical duties such as transaction processing and recording, report and budget preparation, and general financial function execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with day-to-day operations of the finance department, including data entry, ledger maintenance, and processing payments.
- Process and manage account payable, receivable transactions, invoices, record payments, and track expenses
- Tracking and reconciling bank and statements
- Assist with budget preparation and financial reports as required
- Keep financial records up-to-date
- Assist with audits and tax preparations and year end financial reporting
- Follow organizational and departmental financial policies and procedures
- Collaborate with the accounting team to achieve financial objectives
- Organizing financial data into useable information and maintain updated records
- Processing payroll and maintaining employee records
- Communicating with vendors, clients, and internal departments to resolve any financial discrepancies
- Performing administrative tasks such as data entry, word processing, and filing
- Ensuring compliance with all internal procedures and regulatory requirements
Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience working as an accounting clerk or assistant
- A solid grasp of the fundamentals of accounting payable and receivable and bookkeeping
- Knowledge of databases, accounting applications, and Microsoft Office
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create spreadsheets and use financial functions
- Knowledge of accounting software, such as MYOB and Xero
- Time-management and organizing abilities
- Practical knowledge of financial reports and spreadsheets
- Precision and focus on details
- Numerical aptitude
- Capacity to carry out record-keeping and filing duties
- Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance.
