COMMUNITY BASE INCLUSIVE DEVELOPMENT OFFICERS (CBID)

Do you have a passion for working with youths and adults with disability? The Vanuatu Society for People with Disability (VSPD) is looking for Community Base Inclusive Development Officers (CBID).
- Ten (10) Officers – Port Vila Office
- One (1) Officer – Luganville Field office
The officer will deliver our program through the provision of rehabilitation, education and assistive devices. The program aims to improve mobility and promotes holistic development to improving the quality of life for persons with disability and supporting them and their families to participate as equal members in all levels of society.

Duties & Responsibilities
Technical duties:
1. Conduct client home visits around Port Vila, and other rural Area Council in SHEFA Province, to complete initial and follow up assessments and identify the strengths and needs of clients
- Assist clients and their families to develop holistic and client centred goals; ensure the goals are reviewed and modified as necessary during follow up assessments
- Provide interventions as appropriate, including the provision of education, advocacy, strategies, therapy and equipment/mobility aids
- Complete (or assist in) technical duties such as building and modifying assistive devices such as wheelchairs
- Complete required documentation (assessments, client progress notes, equipment prescriptions and distribution etc.) in a clear, concise and timely manner
- Carry out duties and responsibilities promptly as per the following timeframes:
- Initial assessments to be conducted within 2 weeks of a referral
- Prescribed equipment to be delivered within 2 weeks of assessment
- Follow up assessment to be conducted within 3 months of initial assessment
- Documentation to be completed within the week in which the intervention occurred
- Communicate in a clear, sensitive and appropriate way with clients and their families as well as community members, VSPD staff and stakeholders.
- Work closely with the Community Engagement Officer to support Community Disability Associations and to address the needs of clients of VSPD
Organisational duties:
- Develop and undertake a weekly work plan which includes client initial assessments, follow up visits, administration duties and technical work (equipment building and modifications)
- Ensure the weekly work plan is provided to the management team by the Friday of the week before
- Attend and actively participate in all required meetings
- Ensure monthly stocktake/inventory tracking of equipment is accurate and any discrepancies are followed up
- Follow and contribute to the development of VSPD policies and procedures
- Contribute to program design and planning
- Complete (or assist in) reporting (to donors, funders, VSPD management and other stakeholders such as government departments) in a clear, concise and timely manner
- Contribute to CBR program Monitoring and Evaluation by providing management with a quarterly report of all activities undertaken (client assessed/followed up, devices prescribed, referrals made etc.)
- Complete accurate data collection and recording
- Participate in and contribute to ongoing professional development opportunities
- Support the VSPD team, encouraging the learning of all team members
Finance
The additional responsibilities of the CBR Fieldworker Include
- Complete Budget Tracker of every cash advance for activities as per work plan
- Properly kept all activity expense receipts and complete acquittal for all cash advance as requested
- Ensure that every acquittal is signed off by the Team Lead and a copy is kept in file for future reference
- Work closely with and support VSPD management team when required, including undertaking additional duties and projects as directed by the management team
Qualifications Skills & Experience
- Completed High School Year 12/13. Additional qualifications are welcome.
- Experience working in community settings e.g., in education, health, community and social development activities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel, email)
- Ability to work within a team and with community members
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
