VACANCY NOTICE

Position: Director – Vanuatu Cultural Centre

The Vanuatu National Cultural Council (VNCC) invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the position of Director, Vanuatu Cultural Centre (VKS).

Position Details

  • Salary Level: DIR 1.1 – VT 5,390,000 per annum
  • Duty Station: Port Vila, Vanuatu

Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

Essential Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resource Management, or a related field. A background in Cultural Heritage, Museum Studies, or a related discipline is highly suitable.

Desirable Qualifications

  • A postgraduate qualification or Master’s degree in Human Resource Management, Administration, Management, Cultural Heritage, Museum Studies, or another relevant field from a recognised institution.

Essential Knowledge in,

  • Demonstrated knowledge of organisational leadership of organisational leadership, resource management and financial management.
  • Sound understanding of cultural heritage management, museum, archives, libraries, traditional knowledge systems and the preservation of tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
  • Knowledge of Vanuatu’s customs, culture, traditions and relevant legislation affecting cultural heritage.
  • Understanding of public sector governance and policy development.

Experience

  • A minimum of five (5) to eight (8) years’ experience in a senior management or leadership position.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the cultures, customs, and traditions of Vanuatu’s six provinces.
  • Relevant experience in a similar leadership role within a government agency, statutory body, non-government organisation, or private sector organisation.

  • The ability to work effectively with government agencies, traditional authorities, communities, development partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in both English and French, with excellent written and spoken communication skills.
