DRIVER

Vanuatu Society for People with Disability • Contract

The Driver will be responsible for providing safe, reliable, and timely transportation services for VSPD, while ensuring proper documentation of Vehicle usage and supporting basic maintenance of the Vehicle. The role also supports administrative process related to vehicle log reporting and communication as required. This position will be based in Port Vila, Efate.

Duties and Responsibilities
Operations

  • Check Vehicle bookings on the Vehicle log Board daily
  • Transport officers and clients as per approval bookings
  • Ensure Vehicle log book is updated accurately after every run
  • Ensure all passengers wear seat belts, especially children
  • Adhere to speed limit and road safety regulations at all times
  • Keep the vehicle clean inside and outside at all times
  • Ensure the vehicle is safely parked at VSPD premises at the end of each day unless approved by management for any other location apart from VSPD premises
  • Check and collect mail from the Post Office as required
  • Assist Finance officer with delivery and collection of documents when required.
  • Check official emails daily and respond appropriately as required.

Log Book and reporting responsibilities

  • Ensure the Vehicle log book is filled clearly and legibly so that entries can be easily read by others
  • Transfer daily log book details into the designated excel sheet at the end of each working day or first thing the next working day
  • Ensure accuracy of recorded data to support vehicle cost tracking and invoicing of daily run

Vehicle Management

  • Report Verbally and in writing any damage to the Vehicle immediately
  • Conduct daily upkeep and basic maintenance checks
  • Bring vehicle for servicing and repairs as requested (e.g., Asco appointments)
  • Ensure Vehicle undergoes annual roadworthy inspection.

Property Maintenance support

  • Support the grounds and Maintenance officer with property maintenance tasks while not engaged in driving duties.
  • Carry out other related duties as reasonably requested by the management.

Working Relationship

  • Internal Relationships: All VSPD staff
  • External Relationships: VSPD Clients, NGO’s, Service Providers.

Qualifications Skills & Experience/ requirement

  • Must have a valid Vanuatu driving license
  • Minimum of 3 years safe driving experience
  • Must be over 18 years of Age
  • Must have basic Vehicle maintenance skills
  • Ability to maintain clean and accurate record
  • Must Have Basic excel data entry skills.
  • Willingness to learn from, understand and accommodate people with disabilities.
  • Ability to work as part of a team
