PROJECT MANAGER (GEOTECHNICAL SERVICES)

Job Description:

The Project Manager (Geotechnical Services) supports the planning, execution, and delivery of JF Consulting projects. They manage timelines, resources, and client communications to ensure successful outcomes. The role encompasses construction supervision, geotechnical site investigations, project coordination, contract administration, and a strong focus on compliance, quality, and stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities:

Project Management & Coordination

  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement solutions to keep projects on track
  • Coordinate project activities and ensure milestones and deliverables are achieved within agreed timeframes

Contract Administration & Documentation

  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including RFIs, EOTs, variations, and contract correspondence
  • Manage document control processes, filing systems, and version tracking
  • Prepare reports, meeting minutes, presentations, proposals, tenders, and fee estimates

Geotechnical Investigations

  • Conduct geological site investigations, including field mapping, borehole logging, and soil/rock sampling to assess ground conditions for proposed developments
  • Analyze geotechnical data and prepare technical reports evaluating geological hazards such as landslides, subsidence, seismic risk, and slope stability
  • Provide geological input to civil engineering projects, advising design teams on foundation conditions, earthworks, and ground improvement solutions
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and health and safety requirements during site work and project delivery

Construction Supervision & Compliance

  • Conduct site inspections and supervise construction activities to ensure compliance with project requirements
  • Monitor quality, regulatory, and safety standards across all project phases
  • Conduct site inspections and supervise construction activities to ensure works are delivered in accordance with project requirements
  • Identify, report, and assist in resolving construction issues, risks, and non-conformances

Stakeholder Engagement & Client Relations

  • Coordinate meetings, workshops, and communication with clients, consultants, contractors, and authorities
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships while responding to project enquiries
  • Gather client feedback and support continuous improvement of project outcomes and service delivery

Financial & Resource Management

  • Monitor project budgets, costs, expenditure, and labour utilisation
  • Support forecasting, reporting, invoicing, and resource planning activities
  • Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with company procedures and client expectations

Professional Conduct & Business Development

  • Represent and promote JF Consulting professionally and uphold company values
  • Support business development through client engagement and identification of new opportunities
  • Maintain professional standards, industry knowledge, and commitment to continuous improvement

Requirements:

  • Hold bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences of Geotechnical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant industry experience in engineering geology, geotechnical engineering, geotechnical investigations, or a related field; or
  • Experience in geological and geotechnical site investigations, data collection, ground assessments, and preparation of technical reports
  • Ability to interpret geological and geotechnical data and provide practical recommendations
  • Experience working on infrastructure, construction, land development, or natural hazard assessment projects
